Our sensors are most effective when used to measure the moisture content of the soil at the active root depth of the plant or tree that is being monitored.
The active root depth of different plants are generally available online. Keep in mind that the root depth may be different when planting crops in different soil types or even in different seasons.
If your aim is to measure water penetration in the soil, you may want to use two lengths of probes at the same location.
Inserting a sensor below the active root depth can also help evaluate seepage (potential water waste) below the active root depth.
For other applications like construction, leak detection, monitoring dyke moisture levels, etc., please contact us to discuss applications.
It is a good idea to have researched this prior to ordering sensors.
